About

Who We Are

For more than 60 years, the Fairfax Choral Society (FCS) has been a leading voice for choral music in Northern Virginia and the D.C. area. From our flagship Symphonic Chorus to our award-winning Youth Choruses, we bring singers of all ages together to create music that inspires and connects.

Our Mission

  • We make a wide variety of music accessible to the entire county and surrounding communities.
  • We develop community interest and participation in choral music through our music education program for all ages and skill levels.
  • We practice diverse cultural and economic inclusion with our music selections, a financial aid program, and outreach activities.

Our Story

What began in 1962 as a small group performing Handel’s Messiah has grown into a dynamic nonprofit with hundreds of singers and audiences across the region. Along the way, we’ve premiered new works, performed masterworks, and nurtured young voices through our nationally recognized youth program.

Today

FCS brings together singers of all ages through its Symphonic Chorus and Youth Program. Guided by Artistic Director Patrick Vaughn, FCS inspires audiences and shapes the next generation of musicians with excellence, creativity, and community spirit.

Why it Matters

FCS isn’t just about concerts. It’s about creating unforgettable experiences, passing on the joy of music, and ensuring choral singing continues to thrive for generations to come.
