Internships
Fairfax Choral Society internships immerse students in the daily operations of a performing arts organization. Our interns enhance their portfolios with significant projects that give them the tools, training, and experience they require for success in future endeavors.

Arts Management Internship
The Arts Management Intern works with the Managing Director and Director of Operations on the day-to-day operations of running a nonprofit organization. The internship will include office management, concert and rehearsal management, fundraising, development, marketing, website/social media updating, and other tasks as assigned. Students have the opportunity to focus their internship in one area or get a broad knowledge of fields. This internship typically lasts one semester (approx. 10 weeks), 10-15 hours per week. Students who wish to gain college credits for their internships must contact their university coordinators for guidance on internship requirements. This internship is unpaid.
Grant Writing & Editing Internship
The Grant Writing and Editing Intern works with the Managing Director in researching, preparing, and writing grant applications to foundations and corporations. The intern maintains the foundation and corporate database. Additional opportunities include assisting with copy-writing for promotional and marketing materials, press releases, newspaper articles, concert postcards, media ads, website updates, etc. This internship typically lasts one semester (approx. 10 weeks), 10-15 hours per week. Students who wish to gain college credits for their internships must contact their university coordinators for guidance on internship requirements. This internship is unpaid.
Qualifications for Internships
Interns must be currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies. Experienced high school students may apply for unpaid internships as well. They should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to work independently. Interest or background in the arts is helpful, but not necessary.

- Cover letter detailing which position you are interested in. The cover letter should tell us why you’re interested in working with FCS and address why you are the ideal candidate for the position.
- Résumé with education, work training, any choral experience, and technical skills.
- One writing sample no longer than 1 page. This should not be a creative writing piece.
