Who We Are
The Symphonic Chorus is an auditioned SATB ensemble of 80 voices, welcoming singers from young adults to seasoned musicians. With a repertoire that ranges from Mozart to musical theater—and everything in between—chorus members have the opportunity to perform both timeless masterworks and innovative contemporary pieces. Singers receive expert coaching in vocal technique and stage presence and are expected to prepare independently so rehearsals can focus on making music together at the highest level.
Membership Requirements
- Members are expected to sing all regularly scheduled concerts (usually four).
- Members are expected to refer to the Chorus Connection calendar for the rehearsal and concert schedule. Dress rehearsals are held during the week of the performance, and are required.
- Regular rehearsals attendance is expected.
- Members are expected to read (and archive) any emails and newsletters that contain pertinent information.
- Limited absences are granted for business travel and illness. The number of absences allowed per concert is listed in the schedule.
- Members must comply with the FCS Health Policy.
- Members are expected to sell tickets, volunteer, and participate in fundraising.
Rehearsals
- Symphonic Chorus rehearsals are held Monday evenings from 7:30 - 10:00 pm at Providence Presbyterian Church (9019 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax, VA 22031).
- Expect to spend time on your music outside of rehearsal
